Top 10 Dumbest Things Pro Athletes Do

Posted by | Posted in Sports | Posted on 08-09-2009

By: Jason OConnor

There seems to be an endless stream of idiotic things professional athletes do. I guess if you put a bunch of young men together, give them a boat-load of money and lots of free time, what can you expect? When beautiful women, the media and the luxuries of life are thrown at them, their cockiness and stupidity are only amplified. Here are my top ten, but of course there are lots more. However, we must always remember, they are only human too.

1. Me Make Good Play!
Ever see NFL players beat their chest like a gorilla after they just made a good play? I guess it’s a Tarzan thing or something, but they look kinda ridiculous. Maybe if I was out there on the field and I was a 170-pound kicker watching a defensive lineman beating his chest after a sack, I may be a little intimidated, but overall, they look really silly doing it. (I attended a professional all-women’s football game this year and saw a 350-pound woman do this, which was particularly scary.)

2. The God Factor, Part I
I hate it when players point up to Heaven and thank God after a good play too. Bear in mind however, that I am not criticizing religion or anyone for having faith in God. But this just looks lame. It happens a lot in MLB for some reason. A strikeout will cause Pedro Martinez to do the chest-touch and double-index-finger-point to God as if he and God were chatting earlier about possible pitching strategies in the locker room, and the strategy they chose together worked, so he had to personally thank God using his direct line.

3. The God Factor, Part II
Locker rooms, sidelines, dugouts, bullpens, and court sides are often full of praying men. One question: “If you are praying to win, and your opponent is praying to win, who does God choose?

4. Bad Boys, Bad Boys, Whatcha Gonna Do When They Come For You?
Why do pro jocks get arrested for drug and/or gun possession so much? Of course, lots of people do this one unfortunately, we just happen to hear about the famous athletes who do. C’mon guys, keep the drugs at home, stop driving while high, and for crying out loud, stop packin’! You don’t need a gun. Who’s going to harm you? You’re six six and weigh 275 pounds!

5. It Wasn’t Me!
Telling Congress you don’t do steroids, then getting caught doing steroids is pretty dumb. I loved watching the clips where Rafael Palmero sat pointing a finger at the Congressional hearing stating with disgust and confidence, “I do not take steroids.” And then the next clip showing him apologizing profusely for taking steroids.

6. I Love You To Death
Murdering ex-lovers doesn’t happen very often fortunately, but my list wouldn’t be complete without at least mentioning O.J.

7. Rabbits
It seems that there are a lot of NBA players out there who use the phrase, “My baby’s mom” a little too often. And there’s too many pro athletes’ offspring introducing their buddies as “My brother from another mother.” Ever hear of a condom?

8. How Much Bling Bling Do You Need!?
It’s fascinating to watch professional athletes blow through all their millions in their first year or two and then have nothing left at retirement, which is usually only a few years later. How many fifty-year-olds are still playing pro sports? Not many (minus golfers of course, who will drag their canes and oxygen tanks with them on the fairway). So why don’t pro athletes save a couple of bucks?

9. Love My Hog
It’s not too smart to get injured off the job when you’re a pro athlete. Cleveland Browns Kellen Winslow Jr. crashed his motorcycle recently and will now miss the 2005 NFL season. Jay Williams, a number one draft pick of the Chicago Bulls, also got into a motorcycle accident and has not played since. What’s with motorcycles anyhow? Talk about killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

10. “When You Come To a Fork in the Road, Take It” – Yogi Berra
Saying really dumb things in the media seems to be a particularly easy thing to do if you’re a professional athlete. I looked in a lot of places online to come up with a good list here. My problem was that there were so many good ones, I wasn’t sure which ones to pick. But here are a few gems:
a. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: “I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.”
b. Baseball player Tito Fuentes, after getting hit by a pitch: “They shouldn’t throw at me. I’m the father of five or six kids.”
c. Football coach Ray Malavasi: “I don’t care what the tape says. I didn’t say it.”
d. Baseball player Dizzy Dean, after a 1-0 game: “The game was closer than the score indicated.”
e. Boxing Analyst: “Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.”
f. Soccer commentator: “Julian Dicks is everywhere. It’s like they’ve got eleven Dicks on the field.”
g. Bill Cowher, Pittsburgh Steelers coach: “We’re not attempting to circumcise rules.”
h. Jim Wohford: “Ninety percent of the game is half mental.”
i. Joe Theismann: “Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.”
j. Charles Shackleford of the NCSU basketball team: “Left hand, right hand, it doesn’t matter. I’m amphibious.”
k. Shaquille O’Neal, on his lack of championships: “I’ve won at every level, except college and pro.”

As I already asked before, what can we expect from professional athletes? They often reflect society as a whole. Too much time, money and fame at a really young age can augment stupidity, simple as that. We all say and do dumb things, but thankfully, we don’t have microphones and video cameras pointed at us all the time. As Norman Einstein used to say, “Really smart athletes stay away from problems because they can predict the future with their ESPN.”

Watching the NFL versus the MLB

Posted by | Posted in Sports | Posted on 08-09-2009

By: Jason OConnor

Imagine placing two flat screen plasma TV’s side by side in your living room smack dab in front of your couch. You’ve got beer, snacks a-plenty and fresh batteries in your clicker.

One TV has an NFL game on and the other has a Major League Baseball game and they both start at the same time.

Besides this being many sports fans’ idea of hog heaven and even better than clicking back and forth between games with only one TV, it’s fun to watch the differences between these two pro sports. Watching the NFL on TV is a weekly ritual; baseball is on every night of the week, but watching the two combined is almost as rewarding as joining a Cowboy cheerleader snuggle-fest.

And that’s exactly what I did recently (not the snuggle-fest, but the two TV’s thing). Here’s what happened:

The football game started with a massive kick to the opposing team, and a line of 250-pound plus men with murder in their eyes started charging after the poor slob who caught the ball. After a few seconds he was crushed by his pursuers, becoming the bottom man in a very scary adult male pig-pile. MLB players tend to be a little mellower and less physical, but all pro players in any sport need to be strong. Football players take steroids, baseball players get caught.

Meanwhile, the MLB game started off a little less exciting. My heart rate and pulse began to slow down as I watched the catcher and pitcher play catch as the batter just stood there spitting and adjusting his crotch. I got quickly bored and turned back to the NFL game.

In a matter of a three minute span two men had been injured, with one having his ankle relocated to his armpit. A touchdown was scored, the ball changed hands twice, and a whole lot of tackling, smashing, crunching and finger-breaking happened.
Football is more of an immediate gratification, ADD-friendly game to watch.

I glanced back at the MLB game for a couple of minutes. Two strikeouts and four fly outs came and went and we were already in the second inning, with little action to show for it. A baseball game is more of a wise-old-man kind of sport, where patience and number-crunching are paramount. It reveres serenity.

Football reveres mayhem. Watching football gets me angry and all charged up. Watching baseball makes me sleepy. In fact, I usually like to watch the first two or three innings, fall asleep, and then wake up to catch the last few innings. Watching football players hit each other full force and light each other up is exciting, and dozing is out of the question. Watching one grown man with ball in glove chase another grown man to tag him in a pickle is kind of funny.

As 10,000 commercials played on the football TV, I had a few minutes to catch up on my MLB game. Finally, in the bottom of the third, a man hit the ball and dropped it in the right field gap for a single. All the baseball players, including the guy running up to first base, seemed quite pleasant. Why not be? They were playing in a nice park, on a nice warm and sunny day and no one had even broken a sweat yet. The batter reached first base and started chatting with the opposing team’s first baseman. They started smiling and having a great time with each other. My lip-reading skills are not what they used to be but I think I saw one say to the other, “Hi Johnny! How’s the wife doing? It’s been a while since we saw her. We’ve got to get together sometime soon.”

Growing restless, I turned back to the NFL game just in time to see one man standing over a writhing and groaning man on the turf. I think I saw his lips yelling, “Hey Bruno, while we were having breakfast together this morning, your wife told me to tackle you into next Tuesday, did I do a good job?”

In the very next play a running back was nailed in a bone-splitting tackle. Indeed, his bone did split, and then protruded right out of his bloody skin causing a wave of nausea to spread over the crowd.

Fascinated but horrified, I quickly turned to the baseball game and witnessed a wild pitch hit the batter on the finger. The batter yelped and had to sit the rest of the game out, his pinky was smarting.

To replace the bone-sticking-out-of-his-leg guy in the NFL game, a bulky player with flowing dreadlocks sticking out of his helmet started lumbering onto the field. He had a huge cast on his arm that looked like a big club. With the hand totally encased, forming a big bulbous weapon, he shook it as his opponents in defiance while possibly struggling to stick one particular finger up, and then reluctantly joined the huddle.

It was nearing the halftime and so many timeouts had been called that they seemed to have run out of commercials to play. So the cameras started scanning the crowd. It was a lot colder where this game was being held, and I could see people’s breath. I also saw a guy in shorts and no shirt who had painted his skin from head to toe in his NFL team’s colors. His head was shaved and also painted, and he was wearing a big pig’s nose on his face.

As I briefly scanned the crowd on the other TV, I saw lots of people in button down, short sleeve shirts, baseball caps and gloves on, waiting expectantly for that ever-elusive foul ball.

The first half started to wind down in the NFL game, and I actively awaited gratuitous shots of hot cheerleaders. I was rewarded with lots of silly pompom waving and cleavage. I then happily turned back to the MLB game but only saw three heavy-set women shoving sausage dogs and peanuts in their mouths.

At halftime I got a chance to go to the bathroom and grab another cold beer and more snacks. There is never a big break in baseball, and every time I go to the bathroom while watching baseball I always miss the big play, which of course happened this time too.

My MLB game continued to plod along when I got back, inducing the unique ball-strike-out hypnotic state that only baseball can cause. I was about to doze off when I was jarred out of my trance by the flashy touchdown dance I saw on my other TV. The guy who just scored was moonwalking across the uprights while flapping his arms like wings. He then proceeded to do a magnificent swan dive which turned into a double summersault with a twist and finally landed perfectly on the field.

I then quickly caught the replay of the big baseball play I had just missed. Someone hit a grand slam, rounded the bases and was greeted by a big, warm, bouncing-in-unison group hug.

After a while, both games ended and I had experienced a full range of emotions. Both games are great to watch and if you can get past the roller coaster ride of stimulation, watching football and baseball simultaneously is a blast. I decided to keep both plasma TV’s in front of the couch permanently

Finally, no football vs. baseball article could be complete without mentioning one of the masters of comedy and this subject, George Carlin. Here’s a quote from Carlin’s famous monologue that inspired this article:

“And finally, the objectives of the two games are completely different:

In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy’s defensive line. In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! – I hope I’ll be safe at home! ”

How to Buy Tickets SEC Championship Tickets

Posted by | Posted in Sports | Posted on 08-09-2009

By: Amanda Gooch

Let me start this article with a sincere “Thank You” to all of those who read my last article on “How to Buy World Series Tickets”. I was contacted by numerous individuals who asked about getting tickets to all kinds of sporting events. (Who knew when I started my search for World Series tickets for my husband that I would be nicknamed the “ticket lady”.) I have not had time to research getting tickets to all of these events, but I am taking them one at time… starting with the NCAA SEC Championship held in Atlanta, Georgia.

For those of you who live outside of the southeast, you are probably gleefully unaware of the seriousness to which college football is taken there. College football is a certifiable religion. SEC fans are much like the zealous evangelists proselytizing to the masses. (Of course, there is far more alcohol involved with the football.) There are 12 teams that comprise the SEC. The SEC Championship is the decisive game that crowns the winner of the very coveted SEC Football title.

My husband’s friend, Dave came to me and asked for my advice in finding SEC Championship tickets for his girlfriend. Apparently, she is an LSU Alumni and much like her fellow SEC-ites, she is a rabid fan. I immediately took up his cause. Here are a few strategies I discovered in my search:

Strategy #1
Talk to friends, family members, colleagues and your brother’s-wife’s-sister’s-boyfriend’s-mom’s-cousin who just happens to be a current ticket holder for the SEC Championship. Each year, current ticket holders have the opportunity to renew their SEC Championship tickets for the next SEC Championship game. Maybe you can sweet talk them in to letting you use the tickets for this year. If not… see Strategy #2.

Strategy #2
It may be a wise idea to go ahead and place your name on the 2006 SEC Championship Tickets Waiting List which is open from September 1st through December 31st. If there are any tickets available after the renewal period the SEC will randomly contact members on the tickets waiting list and give them the opportunity to buy tickets. Strategies #1, #2 and #3 maybe your only options to buy SEC Championship tickets at the face value, so it is definitely worth a shot. (**Note: the 2005 Waiting List is closed.)

Strategy #3
Contact the ticket office of the schools that are selected to participate in the SEC Championship and the Georgia Dome. Students, alumni and faculty usually get the first priority at the school box offices. All tickets sold through the ticket offices are sold for face value. The box office at the Georgia Dome will only release tickets if available, which is unlikely.

Strategy #4
Visit www.consumerchoicereview.com. This is a great site that gives you all kinds of information about the major sporting events as well as various ticket brokers who specialize in the SEC Championship. You can feel confident that all of the ticket brokers listed on this site are reputable because consumers are allowed to review each ticket broker and their level of service. It even provides event information, so that you can impress your family and friends with your obscure sports knowledge!! Consumer Choice Review also gives you helpful information on how to protect yourself from purchasing counterfeit tickets.

Strategy #5
Another option for SEC Championship tickets is www.ebay.com. Ebay will have a plethora of tickets, but consumers should be aware that you could be paying top dollar for a ticket that is fraudulent. I have heard horror stories of people buying on Ebay, so I have always been leery of using it. I found some really good tips on using Ebay on Consumer Choice Review. This site provides a step by step guide to buying on Ebay.

Strategy #6
Go to the stadium and take the risk that there are no tickets available from scalpers. Or that the tickets that are available are ridiculously expensive or even worse, possibly counterfeit or stolen. I would never pay hundreds of dollars in cash for tickets that could turn out to be fake or stolen. You should always use a credit card because they offer protection of purchases that turn out to be fake or stolen tickets. ***Be very careful when taking this approach and be sure to read the tips posted on Consumer Choice Review prior to taking this strategy.

All in all, there are several options to find tickets to any sporting event you want to attend, whether it is the SEC Football Championship or the NCAA Final Four. The deciding factor is how much are you willing to pay? And what price are you willing to put on your protection as a consumer?

ICC Cricket Ranking: Love It or Hate It But You Can\’t Escape From It

Posted by | Posted in Sports | Posted on 08-09-2009

To say that ranking is ‘just another number to me’ and ‘I don’t care about them’ is a clichéd statement. But many cricket players use this oft repeated statement whenever a new ranking comes up and they see that they are listed no where among the top. Ranking in any sport be it cricket or tennis is something that many people do not like, but there is no escape from it. ICC cricket rankings are the most widely recognized and accepted rankings in the world of cricket.

ICC also known as the International Cricket Council is the governing body in the cricket world. The game is controlled and administered by this governing body. ICC cricket rankings are widely accepted as official rankings in the cricket field. ICC gives rankings both to countries and individual cricket players. Rankings given to teams depend on two factors. The first factor is the performance of the team in the field and the second factor is the strength of the opposing team. This means that if any team wins against a strong opposition like Australia, their ranking can shoot up but if the win is against a low ranked team like Bangladesh, then there may be very little change in the rankings.

ICC cricket ranking are of various kinds. Broadly the rankings are divided in to one day international cricket ranking and test cricket ranking. Under both test cricket ranking and one day international ranking there is country ranking and individual player ranking. Within both the one day and test cricket rankings, players are individually ranked based on their performance and ability. So you can see the list of top ten batsmen, top ten bowlers and the top ten all-rounders in the world. The ICC provides a list of all top 100 players of the game for those who are really interested in knowing about players those who do not figure at the top ten.

Cricket fans eagerly await the release of the list of top players and the top playing cricket nation after every major tournament. Players are ranked on a scale of 0 points to 1000 points. ICC cricket rankings takes in to consideration the past performance of a player for giving rankings. So this means that even if a player is not active in the international cricket scene for a long time due to any reason, he can maintain his ranking at the top ten based on his previous exceptional performances.

Sachin Tendulkar of India is the best example of this. He was not active in the international cricket arena for about four to five months. However due to his consistent performance in the past he was in the list of top twenty players for a long time. The latest ICC cricket ranking has Australia as the top team for both test matches and one day internationals. Adam Gilchrist of Australia and Shaun Pollock of South Africa are the top ranked batsmen and bowler respectively in the latest one day international rankings released by the International Cricket Council.

Summary: – ICC cricket ranking is the player and country ranking given out by the International Cricket Council, the world governing body of cricket. The ICC cricket rankings are updated on a regular basis after every major test and one day international tournament.

Cricket World Record is a Road to Success

Posted by | Posted in Sports | Posted on 08-09-2009

Cricket, cricket and more cricket! This is what we all are hearing and seeing in the present scenario. Cricket has become an obsession for children and teenagers. It is the effect of cricket that we get to see a Sachin, a Brian Lara, a Harbhajan, a Steve Waugh or a Shoaib Akhtar in every house. Every cricket fan has complete knowledge of the cricketing records of their favorite players. Some collect this information as a hobby, while others collect them for enhancing their knowledge of cricket.

Cricket world records enable a player to establish his stand in the world of cricket. In fact, this is also a ticket for the players to enter the “hall of fame”. Cricket world records are the road to success for a player. For example, Shahid Afridi holds the cricket world record for scoring the fastest 100. On the other hand, Sanath Jayasuriya holds the cricket world record for scoring the fastest 50. Their cricket world record has made them a household name. The records have also helped the players to gain good rankings on the popularity chart.

Many a times, cricket world records put great pressure on the players. The pressure can affect their form of playing. After making a record, they have to live-up to the expectations of the viewers. If they fail, the entire empire established by them will collapse. It is because making a position is very easy, but maintaining it is a tough task. Every player has to be careful about his cricket world record, as they can be broken by another player. This can be a great setback in their popularity.

Cricket world record can be made in the field of batting, bowling, wicketkeeping, and so on. Apart from this, cricket world records can be classified into test records and ODI records. The test matches are played for 5 days and the average is judged on the basis of their overall performance. Sachin Tendulkar is famous for holding the cricket world record of scoring maximum number of centuries in ODIs and test matches.

As compared to the test matches, ODIs are viewed with much greater interest. It is because many viewers like quick decisions and hate to wait for 5 long days to see the final results. Such viewers like to see the “making and breaking” of the cricket world record in just one go. Cricket world records in these tournaments are remembered more. But this does not mean that test match records do not carry importance. The basic difference is that, it is the matter of choice and liking for a particular way of playing.

Cricket world records are a sheet of the achievements of various players. It is according to their record that they are valued. Be it bowling or batting, cricket world records are cherished forever. If we look at the bowling side, Wasim Akram holds the record for taking highest wickets in the test matches. On the other hand, Shane Warne holds the record for taking highest wickets in ODIs. Cricket world records are not just restricted to individuals, but are also made by teams. Such records are a collective effort of the team, which puts them on the world ranking chart.

The Fun of Fantasy Football

Posted by | Posted in Sports | Posted on 08-09-2009

Fifteen to eighteen million people play fantasy football every year-and the numbers are growing rapidly.

In fantasy football, you “draft” or auction an imaginary team composed of real-life football players (this can include NFL professionals or college players). They then score points based on their actual performance in real games.

Your fantasy tournament progresses in much the same way as the real football games. You go head-to-head, competing against another opponent each week.

If your team scores the most points by the end of the season, and has the best win-loss record, you win.

Fantasy football was invented by Danny Dulac, one of the organizers of the Raiders. He thought of it during a road trip to the east coast, and by the time he got back, he had fleshed out many of the rules and was “ready for kick off”. Today, there are thousands of websites, magazines and software that are dedicated to fantasy sports.

This is how it works. You have a fantasy league with 8 to 12 teams, with players drafted at the start of the season. Depending on the league you join, you start with a clean slate every season or have a permanent partial roster (these players can’t be included in the annual draft). Some leagues will have you keep the entire team and just draft rookies. At any time during the season owners can change their team by firing some players (that’s life) and hiring free agents who were not drafted. You can also trade with other teams.

The scores are based on how the players do in their weekly NFL games. For example, a player gets 1 point for making 25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards, or 10 receiving yards. He gets a whopping 6 points for a touchdown (unless it’s a passing touchdown, where he just gets 4). Errors can also affect your score. For example, every interception that is thrown subtracts two points. This also applies to fumbles.

Defensive scores are a little harder to compute, so some leagues opt to compute the scores primarily on yards. (They say it is more realistic and mimics the way an actual game works.) Defensive statistics such as sacks and fumble recoveries are then subtracted. To get the number of touchdowns, the total score is divided by a particular number (sometimes 80 or 100). Then any field goals made by placekickers are added to that score.

It’s a very exciting game and adds a new dimension to the already popular game of football.

Using a variety of Mizuno golf clubs, especially the Mizuno putter, we had a bit of a hard time feeling contact, and feeling contact with the golf ball is everything in golf. Whether you’re hitting an approach shot, driving, putting, or working your way out of a bunker, the need to feel the club face directly hit the ball is everything. This helps you determine what is going wrong with the shot.

The first time I used a Mizuno T P Mills putter for example, it got to the point where I dreaded the putt when approaching the green. Normally you can watch the ball hit the face of a putter and know whether the shot has at least a chance of going in or not, but not in this case.

And that was the biggest problem… the Mizuno putter transferred no feeling from the face of the club to my hands. This means that you’ll have a difficult time developing a solid stroke with it. The best way to describe it is to compare it to the old putters you might find at miniature golf places. It tends to make every putt feel like you’re pushing around one of those concrete balls.

The design features of the Mizuno putters however, are outstanding. Like the Mizuno drivers, these golf clubs are lightweight and nicely balanced. Practice swings feel good and it’s easy to keep the head of the putter from overly opening or closing during the putt. But even though the design is nice, this club affected our scores by adding 5 or 6 strokes due to all the missed putts.

So if you are thinking of buying one of these Mizuno putters, ask your local pro if you can try it for a round or two to see if you like it. If you’re not able to try it first, our recommendation would be to pass on the Mizuno putter, BUT give some serious consideration to some of the other Mizuno golf clubs, like the Mizuno graphite driver and the Mizuno Utility Woods. They got the job done very nicely.

Best golfing success,

Golf is about patience, vision, and what you wear. That’s right, what you wear can have a major effect on your game. Golf is a unique game that doesn’t always spell out a specific dress uniform for golfers, but if you aren’t thinking about what to wear your game can suffer. Included below are some tips for golfers of any age, and a ability to improve their game by selectively choosing what they wear.

Starting at the top of the body, wearing a hat has become acceptable in golf. In the 1980’s it was visors, in the 1990’s it was hats, and in the 2000’s it’s all about hats. Tiger Woods made a statement by always wearing his signature Nike hat, and it’s not just for style. Hats can help block out the sun, which can help you improve your shot. Hats are also good was to keep your eyes confined from other players. Got a secret putting trick that you do with your eyes? Now you don’t need to let others see it, because your hat obstructs their view. Hats also can help on colder days by keeping the head warm. When the temperature drops many golfers lose their focus, by wearing your hat and keeping your head warm, your focus can always be on the game.

Golf requires a collard shirt that is as far as many clubs will instruct you what to wear. While it is important to wear a collard shirt for requirement reasons, it is also important to be selective in the shirt you select. The number one thing for golfers to consider when purchasing a golf shirt is the room it offers in the shoulders. As most experience golfers will tell you most of the swing is in the shoulders. If you are wearing a golf shirt that obstructs this part of your swing, you can be in for a long day. Conversely golfers do not want to wear baggy shirts that may also interfere with their game. Choose a comfortable shirt that will fit normal.

Pants are also required on the course for gentlemen. Your pants should have pockets. This may sound elementary, but many a golfer has left the store mad because they don’t have pockets. You’ll need pockets for your score card, tees, wallet, and what ever else you choose to bring. Be sure to purchase pants that are light weight and made of a material that won’t irate you in the sun. For example pick light weight cotton versus a wool pant. Pants also should be a comfortable fit.

Shoes in golf maybe the most important article you wear to the course. For maximum tread you need to purchase soft spiked golf shoes. These are the shoes that have soft rubber spikes naturally built into the shoe, not the metal kind. Shoes should be comfortable, and fit very well. Fit is especially important in golf because if you walk the course in shoes that don’t fit, your feet will develop blisters. Blisters can distract you from your game, and put you in the rough quick.

Overall your golf clothing choices should reflect thought, and have a theme of comfort. You want to be able to perform your best, but if you’re just picking things out of the closet you may end up playing worse than you could with some golf specific gear.
